Quill Zone: student admission questions

I feel like I've ruined my future because I chose the wrong stream.

SupVerified answer

Take a breath, you haven't ruined anything. Stream is not your whole story; plenty of people switch paths or find their way into careers they love from an unexpected starting point. Right now, what matters most is figuring out what actually excites you, not what you think you should be doing. You're still in control here.

Is it true that all engineering colleges now accept PCB students without Maths?

SupVerified answer

No, that's not right. Engineering programs, whether at IITs, NITs or other colleges, still need Physics, Chemistry and Maths in 12th. PCB alone won't qualify you for B.Tech. But there's plenty for you beyond engineering. design, psychology, BBA, law, environmental science, so you have great options.

What is the admission route for a Class 12 student who wants to study law in India?

SupVerified answer

Law after 12th is open to every stream, including Commerce. You can apply through entrances like CLAT, AILET, and other law entrance exams for five-year integrated BA LLB or BBA LLB programs. These exams test your reasoning, English and general knowledge, not maths, so they're a great fit for law aspirants.

I want to pursue MBA after Class 12. Which entrance exam should I take right now?

SupVerified answer

MBA is a postgraduate degree after you finish your bachelor's degree, so you can't take it right after 12th. Right now, you should look at BBA or B.Com for your bachelor's. After you graduate, you can then take CAT or other MBA entrances. For BBA itself, you'd take IPMAT (IIM Indore/Rohtak, applications open in February) or NPAT (NMIMS, also February onwards).

What is the difference between a 5-year integrated law degree and a 3-year LLB?

SupVerified answer

A five-year integrated BA LLB or BBA LLB after 12th gives you both a bachelor's degree and law qualification in one go, so you start practising or studying law right after. A three-year LLB is a standalone law degree you do after completing any bachelor's degree first, so it takes longer overall but you get more flexibility in your first degree.

I don't have Mathematics in Class 12, but I want to become a software developer. What are my realistic options?

SupVerified answer

Software development is achievable without a Maths background. Most mainstream B.Tech programs assume Maths, but you have alternatives. Look at B.Sc in computer science, information technology, or data science. These are open to PCB students and lead directly into development roles. You'll learn programming, databases, and everything a developer needs. Some companies hire purely on skills and projects, not degree name. Start building projects now and you could land dev jobs without a B.Tech.

I am a Class 12 PCB student without Mathematics. What career options do I have apart from medicine?

SupVerified answer

With PCB, you have a lot more than just medicine. Check out psychology, nursing, physiotherapy, biotechnology, environmental science, food science, public health, and pharmacy or veterinary science. You could also explore BBA, law, design, or mass communication.

I am a PCB student and don't want to study biology further. Please don't recommend medicine, pharmacy, biotechnology or life sciences. What else can I explore?

SupVerified answer

You've got solid options outside biology. With Physics and Chemistry, look at B.Sc in chemistry, physics, environmental science or food science, all leading to research, industry or tech roles. BBA and B.Com are also open to you and don't touch biology at all. The Strengths Quiz can show you what you're naturally good at and which careers match those strengths.

I studied Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Can I pursue B.Com or BBA even though I didn't study Commerce?

SupVerified answer

Yes, both BBA and B.Com are open to you regardless of your 12th stream. Your PCB background won't hold you back at all. For BBA, you'll take entrance exams like IPMAT (IIM Indore/Rohtak) in May or NPAT (NMIMS) between February and May; both open applications soon. B.Com doesn't always need an entrance exam, many colleges admit directly.
