Quill Zone: student admission questions
Can I become a lawyer after taking Commerce?
Can I take Commerce if I scored 90% in Science subjects?
Absolutely, you can. Commerce doesn't require Science marks at all, so your 90% in Science won't hold you back. Stream choice is about what you want to study going forward, not what you scored before.

Which stream is best if I'm good at Maths but hate Science?
If Maths is your thing but Science doesn't excite you, PCM might feel like a drag since Physics and Chemistry are pretty core to it. You could explore Commerce instead, it has Maths, Economics, Business Studies, and opens up BBA, CA, finance careers. Or stick with PCM if engineering interests you anyway, since the Maths is the fun part for most people.
I'm very confused about the streams to select, as I wanted to do things as per my interest. What to do, how to measure which career suits my interest best?
The best way is to think about what problems excite you. Do you enjoy solving math and physics puzzles, or building things? Or are you more into understanding how people and society work? Once you narrow down whether you're leaning toward engineering, medical, commerce, or something else, we can show you the exams and colleges that fit.
Kya stream change karne ke liye koi bridge course karna padta hai?
Nahi, stream change ke liye bridge course mandatory nahi hota. Agar 12th ke baad different stream choose karte ho to college directly admission de sakte hain - like engineering ya commerce. Bas entrance exam dena padega jo us stream ke liye required ho, jaise JEE ya CAT.
I don't like numbers at all, can I still go into finance?
Absolutely, you can! Finance does involve numbers, but if you're good at communication and interested in client management, areas like investment banking, financial advisory, or insurance could offer more engaging work. You can pursue commerce after 12th and prepare for exams like CUET or management entrance tests.
Can I become a lawyer from commerce?
Yes, absolutely! Law is open to commerce students and actually a popular choice for them. After 12th, you'd do a law degree (BA LLB or LLB) at any law college. Commerce background works really well for corporate law, tax law, and other specializations down the line.
If I take commerce, can I still go into psychology?
Yes, absolutely. Psychology is open to commerce students too, and some universities even prefer the commerce background for certain psychology programs. You'd typically do a bachelor's in psychology or behavioural science after 12th.
Can I do both Science and Commerce together?
It depends on your school or board. Most schools don't allow you to combine Science and Commerce as formal streams because they have different subject requirements and exam schedules. Your best bet is to check with your school about whether they offer any flexible options or dual-track programs.
